Know those tree-lined brownstone blocks from Bored to Death? That’s Park Slope. (Some of them, anyway – others are Fort Green) There’s a reason the Slope is called the Portland of NYC – just spending some time walking its streets on a nice day is usually enough to induce bliss (and a thirst for a pint in one of its pubs).

 

 

 

 

 

2. Cobble Hill Carroll Gardens

One of Brooklyn’s oldest neighborhoods, Cobble Hill is the intersection of beauty and functionality – more photogenic than Williamsburg (in a traditional sense), but offering up a density of eateries, shopping, and night life that will keep even the experienced bohemian busy.

 

 

 

 

3. Williamsburg

Chances are if you’re the type of Traveler who would be interested in Williamsburg, you’ve already heard of it. An addendum to the East Village and punk rock both geographically and culturally, Williamsburg fits the profile you’d imagine for a global center for street art. Heck, they’re using it to advertise sneakers and Jameson now.

What you may not know is Williamsburg’s gastro-culture and abundance of chef-driven eateries offering everything from on-point pizza to Korean-influenced French bistro fare, and a seeming boatload of Argentinian steak houses – most of them top notch in cuisine if not always in service – in between.
