Barcade

Two types of bars traditionally adorned New York’s streets – cocktail bars and dives – and New Yorkers’ practice of steadfastly favoring tradition over both innovation and quality ensured that it was that way for a long time. Williamsburg – L to Bedford or Lorimer

L_TrainThe L Train runs crosstown at 14th Street and links up with virtually every subway line. Bedford Avenue, from which the majority of our recommendations are accessible, is the first stop in Brooklyn. Hence you won’t spend more than 8 minutes on the L train from the moment it starts moving.

A. From the Upper West Side – 1,2, or 3 train (1 is “local”, available at every stop but slower, 2 and 3 are “express”, stopping only in a few places but faster) or B or C to 14th St, free transfer to “Brooklyn Bound” L train. (Consult the NYC Subway map or google maps to see which line is closest to you.)

B. From Midtown – practically every southbound train line – the A/C/E on 8th Ave, the 1/2/3 on 7th, the F/M on 6th, the N/R/Q on Broadway, and the 4/5/6 on Lexington – stops at 14th Street with the exception of the B and D, and all 14th Street stations have free transfers to “Brooklyn Bound” L trains.

C. From the Upper East Side – 4, 5, or 6 train (6 is “local”, available at every stop but slower, 4 and 5 are “express”, stopping only in a few places but faster) to 14th Street Union Square, free transfer to “Brooklyn Bound” L train.

The Map depicts L Train stops along 14th Street. For more detailed information about which line to take, consult Google maps or the NYC subway map.
